Funky Moped

... was the official A side, but the track that made the record a hit was the B side – not really a song at all, but a more than somewhat risqué comedy routine, loosely based on the BBC children's television programme The Magic Roundabout. ("Dylan", said Dougal, "I wonder if Florence is a virgin?" "Drops 'em for certain" said Dylan.)

The Magic Roundabout routine was one of the most popular episodes of Carrott's live act at the time, and Funky Moped was almost certainly written to provide an excuse for it to be released on vinyl. My memory tells me that The Magic Roundabout was originally the A side, but the sides were switched after The Magic Roundabout was banned by the BBC. I may well be wrong about this; according to someone on YouTube, "Jasper wanted to release this [The Magic Roundabout] as the A side, the record company wouldnt let him so they put it on the back of Funky Moped. The only reason that went up the charts was because of the B side."

Jasper Carrott's daughter is of course Lucy Davis, who played the receptionist Dawn in The Office. She also played Hayley in The Archers for several years, leaving in 2005; and more recently she played Etta Candy (secretary to Steve Trevor, Diana Prince's love interest) in the 2017 film version of Wonder Woman.
